We decided to focus in the first years of the vineyard on good root development to ensure high quality vines for the long term. This ‘investment’ has paid off with our grapes proving to be of consistently high quality as demonstrated by the list of awards received to date.
In our regional competition, East Anglian Vineyard Association, we have won Wine of the Year twice, Best White, Best Bacchus & a gold medal for two of our four vintages to date.

Coworth Park Ascot’s Michael Fiducia thought Toppesfield Bacchus was defined by its elegance, describing ‘elderflower notes with light nuances of gooseberry and greengage’.
Cheese at Leadenhall’s Robert Mason described it as ‘savoury on the nose, with some ripe lychee, peach and jasmine aromas, leading to a weighty body, with ripe fruit and fresh acidity’, adding that it would be an ‘ideal match for risotto’.
In the 2018 Decanter World Wine Awards we won Silver for the Toppesfield Bacchus Reserve and Bronze for the Toppesfield Pinot Rosé. We were also awarded a Silver medal for our Bacchus and a Bronze for our Pinot Rosé in the Independent English Wine Awards (IEWA), and bronze for both wines in Wine GB’s national competition.
In 2019 and 2020 we entered Wine GB’s competitions (sponsored by Country Life, Hotel du Vin and Waitrose) and were delighted to win bronze for the 2018 and 2019 Bacchus vintages and silver for our new, provençal style 2019 Pinot Rosé.
